This novel approach to skin rejuvenation resulted from Dr. Claytor’s studies that showed that the combination treatment results in superior results than any one treatment alone. Dr. Claytor uses the CO2 laser at a level of up to 2-3mm to ablate the tissue and causes thermal injury channels within the dermis. He then microneedles the area up to a depth of 2.5mm to open channels which will allow nano fat (biologics) to enter and promote collagen and elastin genesis and the thickening of the verticular dermis.

Where does the nanofat come from?

Dr. Claytor harvests the fat from the patient’s belly or thighs. He then mechanically emulsifies the fat through a succession of screens in order to access the essence of the fat. The nanofat, which is full of rejuvenating qualities, is then introduced to the injured skin immediately beginning the remodeling process.

How does the remodeling process work?

When a fractional channel is created in the dermis, the body responds by filling in those channels with juvenile tissue. This repair simultaneously causes skin tightening. The process takes about 1-2 weeks to heal, and the skin continues to improve for several months.

Does skin tightening hurt?

Because the CO2 laser treatment is combined with the biologics, patients report almost no discomfort during or after the treatment.

Who is a candidate for the BLT?

Men and women who are affected by the vertical lines above their lips (often called smokers’ lines) and those with wrinkling or marionette lines and deep nasolabial folds can benefit from the BLT treatment. Often, a BLT is done in conjunction with a facelift, but patients may choose the BLT treatment without other surgical or non-surgical rejuvenation procedures.
